Paula Mae Schwartz, co-founder and chief people officer, provided the impetus for starting Schwartz Communications, Inc. For a decade, Paula Mae ran her own boutique public relations agency, serving clients in New York and Boston. Before taking the entrepreneurial plunge, she was with Richard Weiner, Inc., and D’Arcy-Benton and Bowles. She has handled public relations campaigns for clients ranging from Clairol and Sandoz Pharmaceuticals to high-tech companies in networking, telephony, Internet infrastructure and e-commerce. In 2004, pursuing a long-time interest, Paula Mae and Steve Schwartz started a film company, Chockstone Pictures. Chockstone projects include the movie adaptation of THE ROAD, starring Viggo Mortensen, based on the Cormac McCarthy Pulitzer Prize winning novel. Paula Mae is the former President and Board Chair of the Gloucester Stage Company, a professional equity theatre in Gloucester, Massachusetts. She is on the board of the Gloucester Adventure, a non-profit organization working to preserve the historic fishing schooner Adventure. Paula Mae graduated from Boston University with a B.A. in English literature. She started her career at Newsweek magazine, where she gained valuable insight into the national media. She enjoys hiking, theatre and a good thriller.
